About a month ago I went on major Xilent kick, but that’s what happens when someone releases a string of the most fantastic dubstep remixes ever heard.

Now the European drum and bass legend is back with his all new Ultrafunk EP, and it’s pretty awesome — and mind you, that’s coming from a guy who isn’t a big fan of DnB.

There’s something about Xilent’s style that just wows me. Even at the most furious of moments, his tracks maintain a melodic flair. It’s very difficult to put my finger on, but perhaps his usage of really ambient sounding synths. In a genre that is normally balls-to-the-wall at all times, Xilent is a master of pace.

Anyway, I’m not going to write a whole lot about this because I believe Xilent’s music totally speaks for itself. However, I will say that “Do It” is not only my favorite track on this EP, but probably my favorite DnB song of all time. Love the synths, love the vocal integration, and I absolutely love the beat. But what really got me was the incredibly groovy breakdown; it’s what provides this track with so much replay-ability.
