Skrillex -"Breakin' A Sweat (It's Alright)" ft. Members of the Doors & Pretty Lights "Wayfaring Stranger" ft. LeAnn Rimes
So not all that long ago Skrillex mentioned that he would be doing some work with The Doors… wait The Doors and Skrillex on one track? How does that make sense at all? Well, it makes perfect sense, just listen to the track below!
So how did it all come about? A new documentary called RE:GENERATION paired up five producers/DJs to work with artists from five different genre’s of music. The ultimate goal was to combine different sounds and styles of music that under “conventional” beliefs don’t fit together, and produce something totally unique and beautiful. This project is like nothing that has ever been done before, and from what I am hearing so far, it’s is absolutely sensational. It’s magic. #BestIdeaEver
As for the Skrillex and The Door’s song “Breakin’ A Sweat (It’s Alright)…” it’s INSANE! When you combine the psychedelic feel inherent in The Doors compositions, with Skrillex’s mastery of melody and glitch; you’re left with a mind-blowing masterpiece. No, there isn’t a crazy brain shattering drop, but this song doesn’t need one. Door’s keyboardist, Ray Manzarek told RollingStone.com, “I like to say this is the first new Doors track of the 21st century,” and he’s right, it is. This is the first original song including all surviving Doors members since 1978.
So you’re probably wondering what an old rocker had to say about the song, and moreover you’re probably expecting him to hate Skrillex and what he has done to music. Well he said this: “It sounds f-ing great, hot as hell. Skrillex plays his beat, all he had to do was play the one thing… I listened to it and I said, holy shit, that’s strong.”
Other match-ups formed by the documentary include DJ Premier who worked with Nas and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra, The Crystal Method who paired up with Martha Reeves and The Funk Brothers, our boy Pretty Lights who worked alongside Dr. Ralph Stanley, and country star LeAnn Rimes, and Mark Ronson who worked with Mos Def, members of The Dap Kings, Zigaboo Modeliste, and Trombone Shorty.
Check Out Skrillex’s song with The Doors below! Below that I have included Pretty Light’s song with Dr. Ralph Stanley and LeAnn Rimes entitled, “Wayfaring Stranger.” Finally below that, I have included a trailer for the RE:GENERATION documentary. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
