Preview: Feed Me – “Little Cat Steps”
He’s back!
For some strange reason Jonathan Gooch, AKA Feed Me has flown under the radar here in America. Yes, he does indeed have a solid fan base, but for some reason he hasn’t become the household name that I had expected he would. I’ve been listening to Gooch’s productions since his days producing under the name of Spor, and I honestly believe that he is one of the most talented producers out there. Needless to say, I was blown away by his set when I saw him for the first time last year on Deadmau5′s Meowingtons Hax tour.
Following his February EP release, Feed Me’s Escape From Electric Mountain, the English producer is due to release a new track entitled “Little Cat Steps.” Although the name may lead you to expect a timid piece, the song is anything but meek. Actually, with the upsurge of electro-house’s popularity here in the United States, this very well could be the release that gives Feed Me the boost he needs to become a main stage performer.
“Little Cat Steps” is a gritty electro masterpiece with plenty of that signature synth work, but most importantly, it doesn’t stray far from the style that made him one of my favorite producers. The track is semi-dark, however it’s incredibly dance-y and there is certainly no shortage of energy.
I really believe that Feed Me’s next string of releases can set the bar for modern electro-house — other guys can only dream of being half as talented.
“Little Cat Steps” is due out on August 20 on Deadmau5′s Mau5trap Recordings.
