Emalkay – “Bring It Down”
Emalkay first acquired me as a fan when he released his brilliant remix of Delilah’s “Breathe.” I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite dubstep remixes of all time.
Anyway, last week the English producer released the music video for his new single “Bring It Down.” While the video is a beautiful piece of cinematography, I’d rather spend time discussing the track itself being that we’ve yet to review it.
“Bring It Down” is a perfect example of the difference between American and British dubstep. Sure, there are some artists from each nation that do their own thing, however, on the whole, American dubstep is much more glitchy, a la Skrillex, whereas British dubstep utilizes bass notes that are more drawn-out and wobbly.
While this track is certainly heavy, it is able to maintain a certain sense of ambience that I find fantastic. I also love the way that Emalkay instilled the song with a bit of classic feel through implementation of gorgeous piano chords.
Overall, a wonderful track!
